Having mods for the server was quite a delicate thing for Aceon. We could only really have bukkit mods, so we could never have any extra fancy things. We could never rally have mods that would involve someone using a launcher or manually installing.
But now with resource packs for 1.6, anyone can easily install mods (yes, i know it's limited right now) without comepletely messing with their own clients. If we could create an Lysilus RP pack, we could finally have things like guns in roleplay, instead of acting it out... with bows...

The main concern in regards to content packs is the load that such plugins would put on the server - Our minecraft server may be significantly slower if we start adding things such as guns and magic plugins. The server is also primarily a roleplaying server, and therefore requires few added ingame functions. Magic is not roleplayed just because we lack a plugin for it, but because it adds a layer of depth and versatility. If these things are roleplayed, the possibilities for player actions are nigh-limitless. It all depends on your imagination.

So it means we would just need to sit down and figure out what we would want roleplayed and what would be better as a plugin, or even just a retexture. I know it could put weight on the server, but we do not need a Large content pack for the things we do.

If there was something like that, you could use the new Tekkit launcher to make a custom mod pack, post it on the tekkit website, and that will be useful for players to easily download these mods, as well as provide a bit of advertisement for the server.

I vouch for technic launcher *also known as tekkit* I've been playing with this crap for a while. All sorts of crazy stuff there.

This was something I had actually once brought up. I once thought it would be a good idea if we had the server as a hack/mine server. The issue with it which the former director had brought up was that people would need to download the launcher and set it up. Because of this, less people would not be willing to join. It's the same reason we never really had a whitelist. people want ti to be simple to join, otherwise they stray away from it.

yeah, I remember. But that was like during D.E.A.P, and there wasn't much in new players coming on.

1. Hack/Mine server is a bad shitty shit idea made of shit that lives in a shitty shit igloo.
2. I support the idea of a tekkit mod pack.

So, wait, you can create custom mod packs with tekkit? I dunno, we don't really need any more mods than we had. If we add a bunch of gameplay mods/mods that the technic pack or whatever uses, it's sort... restricts one's own imagination of a situation sometimes. I do, although, suggest we get that mod where you can create chairs out of stairs and actually sit in them. That shit is the bomb.

Probably not my place, but I agree with Feerman that chair sitting mod is pretty freaking cool.
